Job Summary
- We are seeking a strategic, results-driven, and commercially astute Head, Business Development to lead the Business Development of the company and drive the company's growth agenda.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing new business opportunities, expanding the company's market share, and building strong strategic partnerships, while providing overall leadership to the sales, marketing, and partnership functions that support the company's revenue growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Growth Strategy: Develop and execute the company's business development strategy, setting clear growth targets, market expansion plans, and revenue objectives in alignment with the company's overall corporate strategy.
- Market Research and Opportunity Identification: Conduct continuous market research and competitive analysis to identify new business opportunities, emerging market trends, and potential areas for product or geographic expansion.
- Sales and Revenue Generation Oversight: Provide oversight and direction for the company's sales function, ensuring the achievement of sales targets, effective sales pipeline management, and consistent revenue growth across all product lines and locations.
- Strategic Partnerships and Alliances: Identify, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and alliances with investors, financial institutions, developers, and other stakeholders to support business growth and project financing.
- Land Acquisition and Project Feasibility Support: Coordinate with relevant departments on land acquisition opportunities, site evaluations, and project feasibility assessments, ensuring new projects align with the company's growth strategy and return-on-investment objectives.
- Marketing and Brand Positioning Oversight: Provide strategic direction for marketing and brand positioning initiatives, ensuring consistent brand messaging and effective promotional campaigns that support business development objectives.
- Client and Investor Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with high-value clients, investors, and corporate partners, serving as a key representative of the company in business engagements and negotiations.
- Proposal Development and Contract Negotiation: Lead the development of business proposals, pitch presentations, and contract negotiations for new projects, partnerships, and investment opportunities.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead, coach, and develop the Business Development team, including Sales and Marketing personnel, fostering a high-performance, target-driven, and client-focused culture.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate closely with the Clients Management, Finance, Legal, and Project departments to ensure seamless handover of new clients, alignment on project terms, and effective execution of business development initiatives.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor key business development metrics, including sales performance, conversion rates, pipeline value, and partnership outcomes, and prepare regular reports for Executive Management.
- Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Develop and manage the Business Development Department's budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to high-impact growth initiatives and marketing activities.
- Risk Assessment and Compliance: Assess commercial, financial, and reputational risks associated with new business opportunities and partnerships, ensuring all engagements comply with company policy and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience:
- Educational Qualification: A minimum of a Master's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressive experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships, with at least four (4) years in a senior leadership or departmental management role.
- Real Estate Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of the real estate and property development industry, including market dynamics, land acquisition processes, project financing, and investment structures.
- Strategic and Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute growth strategies, identify viable business opportunities, and translate market insights into actionable commercial plans.
- Leadership and People Management: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing sales and business development teams, with strong skills in target setting, performance management, and talent development.
- Negotiation and Relationship Management: Excellent negotiation skills and a strong track record of building and sustaining relationships with clients, investors, partners, and other key stakeholders.
- Financial Acumen: Sound understanding of financial modelling, project feasibility analysis, return-on-investment evaluation, and budget management.
- Communication and Presentation Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver compelling proposals and presentations to clients, investors, and Executive Management.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to interpret market data, sales performance metrics, and competitive intelligence to inform strategic decisions.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with CRM software and business intelligence tools.
