Five Teams Empowerment Initiative (5TEi) is a Frontline National Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with dual mandate in Humanitarian and Development work and has presence states in Nigeria with most of its work in Northeastern in Nigeria. Its programming landscape covers addressing needs and building capacities for resilience and responsive communities through focusing on five (5) key sectors of Healthcare and Health Systems, Nutrition and Livelihood, Education and Behavioral Change, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, General Protection and Gender Mainstreaming.

Job Title: Finance Officer
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Job Type: Full-Time
Purpose of the Position
- The finance officer will support the effective financial management of the organization by ensuring accurate accounting, budget control, donor compliance, and timely financial reporting.
- The role is critical in safeguarding organizational resources and ensuring accountability to donors, partners, and beneficiaries.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with organizational and donor requirements.
- Prepare payment vouchers, process invoices, and manage disbursements.
- Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow regularly.
- Assist in preparing annual budgets, project budgets, and budget revisions.
- Monitor project/grant expenditures and ensure funds are spent according to approved budgets and donor guidelines.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and donors.
- Support payroll preparation and statutory remittances (tax, pension, etc.).
- Maintain and monitor petty cash and field cash advances.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.
- Support procurement processes by verifying financial documentation and budget availability.
- Prepare financial schedules and supporting documents for internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, donor regulations, and local statutory requirements.
- Assist in capacity building of program staff on financial compliance and budget utilisation.

- Accurate and timely financial reports.

- Effective budget monitoring and variance analysis.
- Timely processing of payments and staff advances.
- Compliance with donor financial regulations.
- Audit-ready financial documentation.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) or the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in finance or accounting, preferably in an NGO or donor-funded project.
- Strong understanding of donor compliance requirements (e.g., grants, restricted funds, reporting).
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage 50, or other ERP systems.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
