Role Overview

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic, strategic, and commercially minded Brand & Growth Marketing Manager to drive the growth, visibility, and positioning of African Things locally and internationally.
  • This role is responsible for ensuring that African Things continues to grow as a recognised African brand by increasing brand awareness, generating new business opportunities, building strategic relationships, and ensuring our marketing efforts consistently communicate our brand story.
  • The ideal candidate is passionate about African culture, storytelling, branding, and business growth. They should be outgoing, confident, and comfortable representing African Things at events, exhibitions, networking opportunities, and meetings with potential customers and partners.
  • They will work closely with the leadership team and marketing team to develop and execute strategies that increase awareness, attract customers, strengthen our market position, and support revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities
Brand Strategy & Growth:

  • Develop and execute strategic marketing plans that grow African Things’ brand presence locally and internationally.
  • Identify opportunities to position African Things as a leading African gifting and lifestyle brand.
  • Ensure all marketing activities align with the company’s vision, mission, and brand identity.
  • Develop initiatives that increase brand awareness, customer engagement, and market reach.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitors, customer behaviour, and opportunities for growth.
  • Bring new ideas and strategies for scaling the African Things brand.

Brand Representation & Partnerships:

  • Act as a key ambassador for African Things by representing the brand at:
  • Trade shows
  • Exhibitions
  • Networking events
  • Corporate meetings
  • Industry events
  • Build relationships with potential customers, corporate clients, retailers, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Confidently communicate the African Things story, values, products, and impact.
  • Identify partnership opportunities that increase brand visibility and business opportunities.

Lead Generation & Business Development Support:

  • Develop strategies to attract new customers, corporate clients, and international opportunities.
  • Generate and nurture leads through:
  • Events
  • Partnerships
  • Networking
  • Campaigns
  • Industry connections
  • Work with the sales team to convert marketing opportunities into business growth.
  • Maintain a pipeline of potential partnerships and customer opportunities.

Marketing Execution & Team Coordination:

  • Work closely with the social media/content team to ensure African Things is represented correctly across all platforms.
  • Provide direction on content strategy, campaigns, messaging, and storytelling.
  • Ensure marketing activities are executed consistently across:
  • Social media
  • Website
  • Email marketing
  • Offline marketing
  • Events
  • Customer communications
  • Monitor performance and recommend improvements.

Campaign Management & Analytics

  • Plan and oversee marketing campaigns that support brand awareness and sales growth.
  • Measure campaign performance and provide insights on what is working and areas for improvement.
  • Track key marketing metrics including:
  • Brand awareness
  • Website traffic
  • Leads generated
  • Customer engagement
  • Event performance
  • Conversion opportunities

Required Skills & Experience
Must Have:

  • 3+ years experience in marketing, brand management, business development, or a related role.
  • Experience developing and executing marketing strategies.
  • Strong understanding of branding, storytelling, and customer engagement.
  • Experience representing a company at events, exhibitions, or networking opportunities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with different stakeholders.
  • Experience managing marketing teams or working collaboratively with creative teams.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.

Preferred:

  • Experience in luxury, lifestyle, fashion, gifting, culture, or creative industries.
  • Experience working with B2B and B2C audiences.
  • Experience with international markets.
  • Understanding of digital marketing, social media, email marketing, and SEO.
