Job Summary
- The Truck Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of raw materials, finished products, machinery, spare parts, and other company assets to designated locations.
- The role requires strict compliance with road traffic laws, company safety standards, and operational procedures while ensuring the assigned vehicle is maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company trucks to transport raw materials, finished goods, and other company assets.
- Ensure timely delivery and collection of goods while maintaining their safety and integrity during transit.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report mechanical faults or maintenance needs.
- Ensure assigned vehicles are clean, roadworthy, and properly maintained.
- Comply with all road traffic regulations, road signs, company policies, and Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) requirements.
- Verify loading and offloading of goods and ensure cargo is properly secured before movement.
- Maintain accurate trip records, fuel usage, mileage, vehicle inspection reports, and delivery documentation.
- Report accidents, breakdowns, delays, security incidents, or damaged goods immediately.
- Maintain professional conduct when dealing with customers, suppliers, security personnel, and regulatory authorities.
- Assist with loading and unloading of goods when required.
- Perform any other transportation or logistics-related duties assigned by Management.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE / WAEC / NECO) or its equivalent.
- Minimum of five (5) years' proven experience driving heavy-duty trucks, preferably within a manufacturing or logistics environment.
- Valid Nigerian Driver's Licence appropriate for heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
- Good knowledge of Nigerian road networks, road signs, traffic laws, and defensive driving techniques.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle inspection and preventive maintenance.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and complete delivery documentation.
- Physically and medically fit to operate heavy-duty vehicles.
- High level of integrity, responsibility, professionalism, and safety consciousness.
- Good communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel, work overtime, weekends, public holidays, or shifts when operationally required.
- Must successfully pass the company's driving assessment, medical examination, and background verification before employment.
