We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: User Onboarding Officer (Fintech & Microfinance Bank)

Locations: Abuja (FCT) and Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a proactive User Onboarding Officer with a minimum of 2 years of experience in fintech, a microfinance bank (MFB), or a traditional bank.
  • You will be responsible for guiding new users through registration, verification, and account activation, ensuring full compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.
  • This role is critical to driving early user adoption, building trust, and boosting platform retention.

Key Responsibilities
User Registration & Activation:

  • Guide new users through the end-to-end onboarding process, covering account creation, document submission, and account activation across web and mobile platforms.
  • Provide clear, step-by-step guidance to new users on how to navigate core application features (e.g., transfers, bill payments, savings products) post-onboarding.
  • Meet or exceed daily and weekly onboarding targets set by management to support user acquisition goals.

Document Verification & Compliance:

  • Review and validate submitted identity documents—including BVN, NIN, utility bills, and passport photographs—against internal and external databases.
  • Ensure strict compliance with financial KYC and AML regulatory frameworks during the verification process.
  • Support the compliance and risk functions by helping prepare periodic reports on onboarding volumes, verification success rates, and compliance metrics.

Customer Support & Process Improvement:

  • Respond promptly to user inquiries via chat, email, or phone, resolving onboarding roadblocks such as failed verification checks or document upload errors.
  • Identify bottlenecks or friction points in the registration journey and collaborate with product and tech teams to recommend platform enhancements.
  • Accurately input and update customer profiles within the core banking system and CRM, maintaining absolute data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Liaise with compliance, risk, and customer success teams to ensure a smooth handover of verified users.

Requirements
Education & Experience:

  • OND, HND, or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable experience in user onboarding, customer verification, or account management within a fintech, microfinance bank, or commercial bank.

Technical Skills & Tools:

  • Solid proficiency in using CRM systems, onboarding dashboards, and core banking applications.
  • Comfortable verifying Nigerian regulatory identity components (BVN, NIN).

Core Competencies & Work Style:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical steps clearly to users with varying levels of digital literacy.
  • Sharp attention to detail, high integrity, and a proven ability to handle sensitive customer data confidentially.
  • Must reside in Abuja or Lagos and be willing to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, to support active user onboarding campaigns.
