Job Title: QA / QC Welding Inspector

Job Description
- A QA/QC Welding Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all welding and fabrication activities comply with project specifications, applicable codes and standards, client requirements, and quality management systems.
- The inspector performs inspections before, during, and after welding operations to verify workmanship, material quality, and compliance with approved welding procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect welding and fabrication activities in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Verify that welding is performed according to approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and qualified Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ/WQT).
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, welding symbols, and project documentation.
- Conduct pre-welding inspections, including material identification, joint preparation, fit-up, and alignment.
- Monitor welding parameters and ensure compliance with approved procedures.
- Perform visual inspections of welds before, during, and after welding.
- Coordinate and witness Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities such as:
- Visual Testing (VT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Radiographic Testing (RT)
- Verify the calibration and condition of welding equipment and inspection tools.
- Identify welding defects and issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when required.
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented and verified.
- Maintain inspection reports, weld maps, traceability records, and quality documentation.
- Participate in quality audits and client inspections.
- Ensure compliance with applicable international standards such as:
- ASME
- AWS
- API
- ISO
- EN standards (where applicable)
- Monitor material traceability and consumable control.
- Work closely with project engineers, construction teams, and client representatives.
- Promote compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
Requirements
Education:
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Experience:
- 2–5 years of experience in welding inspection or quality control within fabrication, construction, oil & gas, or manufacturing industries.
Preferred Certifications:
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2 Welding Inspector
- Welding Inspector Certification from a recognized authority
- NDT Level II Certification (VT mandatory; MT/PT/UT/RT preferred)
- ISO 9001 Internal Auditor (preferred)
- HSE Certification (NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent)
Required Skills:
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
- Knowledge of welding metallurgy and materials.
- Familiarity with ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, API 1104, ISO 3834, and other relevant codes.
- Understanding of NDT methods and acceptance criteria.
- Knowledge of quality control systems and documentation.
- Experience with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Control Procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
