Job Title: Biology Teacher
Location: Okija / Ihiala, Anambra

Description
- We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Biology Teacher to join our academic team.
- The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the natural world, develop critical thinking skills through the scientific method, and achieve academic excellence.
- You will be responsible for preparing engaging lesson plans, conducting laboratory experiments safely, and guiding students through life science concepts ranging from cellular biology to ecology.
Responsibilities
- Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging biology lessons that align with curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
- Laboratory Management: Organize, set up, and supervise safe, hands-on laboratory experiments and practical activities that reinforce theoretical concepts.
- Student Assessment: Design, administer, and grade tests, quizzes, assignments, and lab reports to accurately evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Classroom Environment: Maintain a supportive, organized, and positive classroom culture that encourages active participation, respect, and intellectual curiosity.
- Performance Monitoring: Identify students who need extra support or academic enrichment, and implement tailored strategies to help them succeed.
- Professional Development: Attend staff meetings, participate in professional learning communities, and stay current with advancements in biological sciences and educational technology.
Education & Certification
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Life Sciences, Secondary Education (with a science concentration), or a closely related field.
- Licensure: Valid state teaching credential or professional certification for secondary education (Biology/General Science).
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a secondary school setting is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience designing and leading high school-level laboratory experiments.
- External Examiner Background: Minimum of 2–3 years of active experience as an officially certified examiner/marker for WAEC or NECO Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSCE).
- Proven experience analyzing WAEC/NECO chief examiners' reports to adjust teaching methods and improve student pass rates.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Subject Matter Expertise: Deep knowledge of core biological concepts, including genetics, evolution, anatomy, physiology, and environmental science.
- Instructional Delivery: Strong ability to explain complex scientific concepts in an accessible, relatable, and age-appropriate manner.
- Lab Safety & Tools: Proficiency in handling laboratory equipment (microscopes, specimens, chemicals) and strict adherence to biosafety protocols.
- Classroom Management: Proven ability to manage student behavior effectively and keep large classes focused and productive.
- Tech Literacy: Familiarity with digital learning management systems (LMS) and smartboards.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, active listening, patience, and adaptability.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of a comprehensive background check and child protection screening.
- Willingness to participate in co-curricular activities.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
