Job Title: English Language Teacher
Location: Ihiala / Okija, Anambra

Job Description
- The English Language and Literature-in-English Teacher will be responsible for fostering a deep appreciation for the English language and its literary traditions.
- The ideal candidate will equip students with essential communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills, preparing them thoroughly for both internal assessments and external examinations (such as WAEC, NECO, or Cambridge IGCSE).
Responsibilities
- Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in both English Language (grammar, composition, comprehension, and oral English) and Literature-in-English (prose, poetry, and drama).
- Exam Preparation: Guide students through prescribed literary texts and poetry anthologies, focusing on themes, stylistic devices, and character analysis required for regional and international examinations.
- Assessment & Grading: Design valid assessment tools, grade essays, scripts, and assignments promptly, and provide constructive feedback to support student growth.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, inclusive, and orderly classroom environment that encourages active participation and intellectual curiosity.
- Extracurricular Support: Mentor or assist with co-curricular activities.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and lesson plans, and actively participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions.
Key Skills:
- Subject Mastery: Deep understanding of English grammar structures, phonetics, and diverse literary genres/periods.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex literary concepts clearly.
- Analytical Thinking: Proficiency in breaking down text structures, literary devices, and critical theories for students.
- Patience & Empathy: Ability to manage diverse learning paces and support students who struggle with literacy or language expression.
- Organization: Strong time management skills for balancing lesson planning, grading, and administrative tasks.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.) in English/Literature, or a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English/Literature plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
- Professional Certification: Registration with a relevant national teaching council or regulatory body (e.g., TRCN) is highly preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience at the secondary school level, with a proven track record of preparing students successfully for terminal exams.
Other Requirements:
- Strong digital literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and school management portals/learning management systems (LMS).
- High level of professional ethics, integrity, and dedication to the holistic development of students.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with department heads, parents, and school administration.
Remuneration & Benefits
- Salary: N150,000 monthly. Competitive monthly gross salary, commensurate with qualifications, experience, and institutional scale.
