Job Title: Visual / Fine Arts Teacher
Location: Ihiala / Okija, Anambra

Descritpion
- The Visual/Fine Arts Teacher will be responsible for inspiring students' creativity, self-expression, and technical artistic skills.
- The ideal candidate will introduce students to diverse artistic mediums, art history, and creative theory, while preparing them thoroughly for both internal assessments and external examinations (such as WAEC, NECO, or Cambridge IGCSE).
Responsibilities
- Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons covering fine arts and applied arts, including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, graphics, and textile design.
- Art Studio Management: Maintain an organized, safe, and clean art studio environment. Instruct students on the proper care, handling, and safety protocols for artistic tools, sharp instruments, and chemical mediums (like paints and solvents).
- Exam & Exhibition Preparation: Guide senior students through the rigorous practical and theoretical requirements of terminal regional or international art examinations. Organize internal school art exhibitions or displays to showcase student talent.
- Inventory & Material Management: Manage the art budget efficiently to procure high-quality materials (canvases, clay, paints, sketchbooks). Maintain an up-to-date inventory of studio equipment.
- Assessment & Evaluation: Critique and grade students' creative artwork, portfolios, and written art history theory fairly and promptly, providing constructive feedback to nurture their growth.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records of student progress, lesson planning, and attendance, while participating actively in departmental and general staff meetings.
Key Skills:
- Artistic Mastery: High proficiency in multiple mediums (such as sketching, oil/acrylic painting, sculpting, or printmaking) and a strong grasp of art history and design principles.
- Creative Instruction: The ability to demonstrate physical techniques step-by-step and unlock creative confidence in students of varying skill levels.
- Exhibition Coordination: Skills in curation, framing, and visually arranging artwork for school displays or public presentation.
- Patience & Empathy: A supportive mindset to handle the highly subjective nature of art and guide students through creative blocks.
- Resourcefulness: Ability to maximize materials efficiently and find cost-effective ways to deliver high-impact practical projects.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed.) in Fine/Applied Arts, or a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Fine Arts (B.F.A.) Degree plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).
- Professional Certification: Registration with a relevant national teaching council or regulatory body (such as TRCN) is highly preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years of classroom and studio teaching experience at the secondary school level, with a documented history of successfully guiding students through terminal art exams.
Other Requirements:
- Digital literacy, including familiarity with basic graphic design software or digital art tools and school management portals.
- Strong collaborative skills to work with department heads, procurement staff, and other creative teams for school events and decorations.
- High level of professional ethics, integrity, and absolute dedication to fostering an inclusive, creative learning space.
