Five Teams Empowerment Initiative (5TEi) is a Frontline National Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with dual mandate in Humanitarian and Development work and has presence states in Nigeria with most of its work in Northeastern in Nigeria. Its programming landscape covers addressing needs and building capacities for resilience and responsive communities through focusing on five (5) key sectors of Healthcare and Health Systems, Nutrition and Livelihood, Education and Behavioral Change, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, General Protection and Gender Mainstreaming.

Job Title: Communication and Media Intern
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Job Type: Full-Time
Purpose of the Position
- The Communication and Media Intern will support 5TEi in enhancing its visibility, storytelling, and public engagement through effective communication strategies and media content creation.
- The intern will assist in documenting project activities, managing digital platforms, and promoting the organization’s mission, impact, and values.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation and Storytelling:
- Develop engaging content for social media, newsletters, reports, and website updates.
- Write success stories, human-interest stories, press releases, and blog articles.
- Capture photos, videos, and testimonials during project activities.
- Support in designing visual communication materials such as flyers, banners, and infographics.
Social Media Management:
- Assist in managing the organisation’s social media accounts.
- Schedule and publish content across digital platforms.
- Monitor audience engagement and respond to comments/messages where necessary.
- Track social media performance and prepare analytics reports.
Media and Public Relations:
- Support the preparation of media briefs and press kits.
- Assist in building and maintaining relationships with local media outlets.
- Help organise media coverage for events and campaigns.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Document project activities through photography, videography, and written reports.
- Maintain an organized archive of media files and communication materials.
- Support in compiling monthly communication reports and impact stories.
Branding and Visibility:
- Ensure all communication materials align with 5TEi branding guidelines.
- Promote organizational events, campaigns, and advocacy initiatives.
Key Deliverables:
- Timely production of communication materials and content.
- Regular social media updates and engagement reports.
- High-quality photo/video documentation of projects.
- At least one impact story or success story per month.
- Support in increasing organizational visibility and audience engagement.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma (or currently studying) in mass communication, journalism, media studies, public relations, marketing, or related fields.
- Basic experience in content creation, photography, videography, or social media management.
- Knowledge of graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or similar is an added advantage.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Familiarity with digital communication trends and NGO communication.
