We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Assistant Farm Manager

Location: Awe, Oyo
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Assistant Farm Manager will support the Farm Manager in coordinating daily farm operations, ensuring compliance with biosecurity and animal welfare standards, supervising farm personnel, and driving productivity across breeder, broiler, or layer operations.
  • The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, sound technical knowledge of poultry production, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and supervising daily poultry farm operations.
  • Ensure adherence to company biosecurity, health, safety, and animal welfare standards.
  • Monitor flock performance, including mortality, feed intake, weight gain, egg production, fertility, and hatchability, as applicable.
  • Supervise and support farm supervisors, attendants, and other operational staff.
  • Ensure proper feeding, watering, vaccination, medication, and environmental management of birds.
  • Monitor feed, medication, and farm consumables to minimise wastage and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Assist in implementing production plans and achieving set performance targets.
  • Maintain accurate farm records, including production, mortality, medication, vaccination, and inventory reports.
  • Identify operational challenges and recommend corrective actions to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Coordinate farm maintenance activities to ensure facilities and equipment remain in good working condition.
  • Support disease prevention initiatives by ensuring strict compliance with biosecurity protocols.
  • Assist with staff training, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians, laboratory personnel, maintenance teams, and other departments to ensure seamless farm operations.
  • Prepare periodic operational reports for management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Animal Science, Animal Production, Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications will be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • 5–7years' experience in commercial poultry production.
  • Practical experience in breeder, broiler, or layer farm management.
  • Experience supervising farm personnel and coordinating daily production activities.
  • Good understanding of poultry husbandry, biosecurity, and flock management.

Required Competencies:
Technical Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of commercial poultry production systems.
  • Good understanding of poultry nutrition, vaccination, and disease prevention.
  • Knowledge of farm equipment and facility management.
  • Ability to analyse production data and prepare reports.
  • Computer proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite.
