We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Legal Officer

Location: Lagos 
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Associate to provide legal advisory and compliance support across the Bank.
  • The successful candidate will ensure the Bank’s operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies while protecting the Bank’s legal interests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice to management on banking, corporate, and commercial matters.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Ensure compliance with banking regulations and applicable legal requirements.
  • Support regulatory filings and liaise with regulatory authorities and external solicitors.
  • Provide legal support on corporate governance matters and Board documentation.
  • Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks across the Bank.
  • Assist with dispute resolution, litigation management, and debt recovery matters where required.
  • Support business units with timely legal guidance to facilitate business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B).
  • BL and Call to the Nigerian Bar are mandatory.
  • 2– 4 years’ post-call experience in a bank, financial institution, or reputable corporate / commercial law firm.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of banking, financial services, corporate, and commercial laws.
  • Sound understanding of regulatory compliance within the banking industry.
  • Excellent contract drafting, review, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience engaging with regulators and supporting regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate governance principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Salary
N300,000 – N350,000 Monthly.
