Job Summary
- We are seeking a smart, detail-oriented, and innovative Food Scientist to join our team.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting product development, improving food quality, ensuring food safety compliance, and carrying out research to enhance product formulation, shelf life, and production processes.
- The role requires a candidate with a strong understanding of food science principles, laboratory testing, and quality standards within the food manufacturing industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and development on new food products, ingredients, and formulations.
- Improve existing products in terms of taste, texture, shelf life, packaging, and nutritional value.
- Carry out laboratory tests and analyses to ensure product quality, consistency, and safety.
- Monitor raw materials, production processes, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Support the implementation of food safety systems such as HACCP, GMP, and SOPs.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, including NAFDAC and SON standards.
- Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and operations teams to resolve product or process issues.
- Participate in sensory evaluation, product trials, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Keep up to date with food trends, innovations, and industry best practices.
Requirements
- BSc or HND in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- 1 - 2 years of relevant experience in food production, quality control, laboratory analysis, or product development is an added advantage.
- Good knowledge of food safety, food processing, and quality control procedures.
- Familiarity with NAFDAC, SON, HACCP, and GMP standards.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Good attention to detail and ability to document findings accurately.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and Word.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Candidate must be proactive, organized, and willing to learn.
