We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Manager, Subsea Systems Engineer

Location: Nigeria

Job Summary

  • The Senior Subsea Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, engineering, installation support, operation, integrity management, and lifecycle performance of subsea production systems.
  • The role provides technical leadership for subsea field developments, ensuring that subsea assets are designed, installed, operated, and maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable industry standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Subsea Engineering and Technical Leadership:

  • Lead the engineering, planning, and execution of subsea production system projects.
  • Provide technical oversight for subsea trees, wellheads, manifolds, pipelines, flowlines, risers, jumpers, umbilicals, and control systems.
  • Review and approve subsea engineering designs, calculations, technical specifications, and contractor deliverables.
  • Support concept selection, FEED, detailed engineering, installation, commissioning, and operational phases of subsea developments.
  • Ensure compliance with project requirements, company standards, and applicable international codes and standards.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities involving SURF, drilling, facilities, operations, and integrity teams.

Subsea Operations and Asset Integrity:

  • Support the operation, maintenance, and integrity management of subsea production systems.
  • Evaluate inspection data, operational performance, and integrity assessments to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement subsea maintenance, inspection, and reliability programs.
  • Participate in anomaly management, risk assessments, fitness-for-service evaluations, and failure investigations.
  • Provide technical support for intervention, repair, replacement, and life-extension projects.

Project Execution and Installation Support:

  • Support offshore installation, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Review installation procedures, method statements, risk assessments, and contractor execution plans.
  • Coordinate with installation contractors, marine teams, vessel operators, and offshore personnel.
  • Monitor project progress, technical performance, and compliance with approved execution plans.
  • Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation activities.

Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Responsibilities:

  • Promote compliance with company HSE policies and industry best practices.
  • Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, JSA, SIMOPS, and risk assessment activities.
  • Ensure subsea engineering activities are conducted in accordance with applicable safety and environmental requirements.
  • Support incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Contribute to operational risk management and continuous improvement initiatives.

Knowledge Transfer and Mentoring:

  • Provide technical mentoring and guidance to junior engineers and local personnel.
  • Support competency development and structured knowledge transfer programs.
  • Contribute to engineering standards development and lessons-learned initiatives.
  • Facilitate technical workshops and engineering reviews.

Requirements
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Naval Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Master's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline is advantageous.
  • Registered Professional Engineer or membership of a recognized engineering institution is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in subsea engineering, offshore engineering, or subsea production system operations within the oil and gas industry.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience supporting subsea field development, SURF projects, subsea operations, or integrity management programs.
  • Extensive experience with subsea production systems, pipelines, risers, flowlines, umbilicals, manifolds, and subsea controls.
  • Proven experience supporting deepwater and ultra-deepwater developments.
  • International offshore project experience is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex subsea engineering projects through the full project lifecycle.

Required Certifications:

  • Professional Engineering Certification or Registration (preferred).
  • BOSIET/FOET with CA-EBS.
  • HUET Certification.
  • Offshore Medical Certificate.
  • Project Management and Risk Assessment Training (advantageous).
  • Any client-specific or project-required certifications.

Technical Skills:

  • Expert knowledge of subsea production systems and subsea field architecture.
  • Strong understanding of SURF systems, subsea controls, flow assurance, and asset integrity management.
  • Experience with subsea engineering standards including API, ISO, DNV, NORSOK, and related offshore codes.
  • Ability to review engineering calculations, design packages, installation procedures, and technical specifications.
  • Experience with reliability engineering, risk management, and lifecycle asset management.
  • Familiarity with subsea intervention, inspection, repair, and maintenance (IRM) operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and engineering software applications.

  • Experience on major offshore field developments, subsea tie-backs, brownfield modifications, and deepwater projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in subsea integrity management, reliability improvement, and life-extension projects.
  • Proven capability in mentoring and developing local engineering personnel.
  • Experience supporting FEED, EPC/EPCI, installation, commissioning, and operational support activities.
  • Strong knowledge of international offshore regulatory and industry requirements.
