Job Title: Senior HSSE Officer

Location: Abuja

About the Role

  • Lead the health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) function at the facility, safeguarding patients, staff, visitors and assets through robust standards, compliance and risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and monitor HSSE policies, procedures and management systems aligned with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits and inspections; track corrective actions to closure.
  • Lead incident reporting, investigation and root‑cause analysis; recommend preventive measures.
  • Oversee fire safety, emergency preparedness, evacuation drills and business‑continuity arrangements.
  • Coordinate infection‑control support, waste management (including medical and biohazard waste) and environmental compliance.
  • Coordinate facility security operations, access control and contractor/visitor safety.
  • Deliver HSSE training, drills and awareness programmes for staff.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements (NESREA, occupational safety, health‑regulator standards).
  • Maintain HSSE records, permits and reporting to management and authorities.
  • Liaise with regulators, emergency services and accreditation bodies.
  • Supervise and develop HSSE staff.

Requirements
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Environmental or Occupational Health & Safety, Sciences, Engineering or a related field, plus completion of NYSC or a valid exemption where applicable.

Experience:

  • 5 - 7 years’ HSSE experience, with a senior or supervisory element, gained in a healthcare, industrial or institutional HSSE environment.
  • Hospital experience covering infection control and medical‑waste management is an advantage.
