We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Steel Melt Shop (SMS) Engineer

Location: Ikorodu, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor Steel Melt Shop (SMS) processes to achieve production and quality targets.
  • Supervise steel melting operations using Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), Induction Furnace (IF), or Ladle Furnace (LF), as applicable.
  • Optimize furnace performance, energy consumption, and production efficiency.
  • Monitor raw material charging, alloy additions, and steel chemistry.
  • Ensure compliance with production schedules, quality standards, and operating procedures.
  • Coordinate refractory maintenance and furnace turnaround activities.
  • Analyse process data and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with Maintenance, Quality, and Production teams to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure strict compliance with HSE policies and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Prare production reports and maintain accurate operational records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, HND or ND in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in a Steel Melt Shop or steel manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of steelmaking processes, furnace operations, metallurgy, and quality control.
  • Knowledge of EAF, Induction Furnace, Ladle Furnace, Continuous Casting, and refractory management is an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
