Job Title: Risk Manager

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

  • The Risk Manager will be responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating risks that may impact the organisation’s operations, reputation, financial performance, and strategic objectives.
  • The role will ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, policies, and controls in alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • The successful candidate will provide strategic risk advisory support to management while promoting a strong risk management culture across the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and implement the organisation’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework in line with COSO requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and evaluate strategic, operational, financial, and compliance risks across the business.
  • Conduct periodic risk assessments and reviews while maintaining an up-to-date enterprise risk register.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), emerging risks, and risk trends.
  • Develop, review, and support the implementation of risk mitigation strategies and action plans.
  • Collaborate with business units and departmental heads to ensure effective execution of risk management initiatives.
  • Provide advisory support to management on risk-related decisions, projects, and business initiatives.
  • Prepare and present risk management reports to Senior Management, Executive Leadership, and Risk Management Committees.
  • Support the review and implementation of the organisation’s risk appetite framework and risk tolerance levels.
  • Work closely with Internal Audit, Compliance, and Control functions to ensure alignment between risk management activities and internal control systems.
  • Lead risk awareness campaigns, workshops, and training programmes to strengthen risk culture across the organisation.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and corporate governance principles.
  • Recommend process improvements and control enhancements aimed at reducing risk exposure and improving operational resilience.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of risk assessments, mitigation plans, and risk management activities.
  • Stay abreast of emerging risks, evolving regulations, and industry best practices to ensure continuous improvement of the risk management function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • 7 – 10 years of relevant experience in risk management, internal audit, compliance, or enterprise risk management, preferably within the pharmaceutical or manufacturing sector.
  • Master's degree or MBA will be an added advantage.
  • Professional certifications such as CRM, CRISC, CIA, ACCA, CISA, or other relevant risk management certifications are preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management frameworks including COSO and ISO 31000.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining risk registers, risk assessment methodologies, and risk reporting frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and report-writing skills.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements within the pharmaceutical or manufacturing industry. ▪ Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and risk management systems/tools.
  • Ability to influence business leaders and drive organisation-wide risk management initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional environment.
