Sagar Vitaceuticals Nigeria Limited (SVNL) is a pharmaceutical manufacturing company based in Ikeja, Lagos. Originally established as a joint venture, it is now owned by Sagar Overseas Ltd. SVNL operates a modern facility with high-capacity production lines for tablets, capsules, ointments, and more, adhering to GMP standards.

The company is NAFDAC-approved and partners with Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Health to support local drug production. Its product portfolio includes vitamins, antibiotics, and over-the-counter supplements.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Dispensing Officer

Location: Makun City, Ogun

Reports To: Pant head or Factory Manager

Job Summary

  • The Dispensing Officer is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of prescription and over-the-counter medications.
  • The role involves verifying prescriptions, preparing medications, maintaining accurate records, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and company policies while providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and process prescriptions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Dispense medications according to approved prescriptions and standard operating procedures.
  • Label medications correctly with dosage instructions, warnings, and patient information.
  • Counsel patients or customers on the proper use, dosage, storage, and possible side effects of medications, where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate dispensing records and patient profiles.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and storing pharmaceutical products.
  • Ensure proper storage conditions for medicines, including temperature-sensitive products.
  • Check medication expiry dates and remove expired or damaged products from stock.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dispensing area.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP), company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Report medication errors, adverse drug reactions, or quality concerns promptly.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to resolve prescription-related issues.
  • Participate in regular stock counts and inventory audits.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and company information.

Qualifications

  • OND, HND, Diploma in pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Technology, or a related health science field with 2-6 years experience
  • Valid professional registration or license (where required by local regulations).
  • Previous experience in pharmacy dispensing is an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products and dispensing procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with pharmacy management software.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Good problem-solving and teamwork abilities.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed in a pharmacy or pharmaceutical dispensing environment.
  • May require standing for extended periods.
  • May involve weekend, evening, or shift work depending on operational requirements.

Salary 
N150,000 - N200,000 per month.
