Job Title: Civil Engineer

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

• Plan and design building structures following construction and government standards, using design software and drawing tools.
• Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards.
• Direct responsibility for construction operations, and building maintenance of structures at project site.
• Participate in surveying to lay out installations and establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide constructio
• Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine the specifications of the project
• Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements
• Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
• Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
• Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met
• Develop project schedules, budgets, and billings
• Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies
• Supervise the work of laborers, mechanics etc. and give them guidance when needed
• Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
• Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
• Develop/execute a comprehensive client service plan
• Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats
• Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects
• Participates in constructability review;
• Utilizes technologies in development of three-dimensional models of civil systems and provides markups for junior engineers / designers
• Communicate with intercompany departments to meet project needs
• Comply with guidelines and regulations including permits, safety etc and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as required
• Conduct on site investigations and analyze data (maps, reports, tests, drawings and other)
• Carry out technical and feasibility studies and draw up blueprints that satisfy technical specifications
• Assess potential risks, materials and costs
• Provide advice and resolve creatively any emerging problems/deficiencies

Requirements

• B.Sc.Degree / M.Sc.Degree in Civil Engineering
• COREN certified (Essential)
• 5-7+ years’ work experience as a Structural civil engineer project manager with proven portfolio
• PMP or equivalent certification (Essential)
• In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles
• Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards and codes
• Expert in the use of engineering software like: Auto Card(2D/3D), MS Projects, Primavera, STAAD Pro, FORTRAN etc. (Essential)
• Availability for travel related work. (Essential).
• Familiarity with construction/ project management software
• Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• A team player with leadership abilities.

Remuneration
N300,000 Monthly.
