Job Title: Sourcing Manager

Job Summary

  • To strengthen our growing operations in Kano, NutriK is seeking a dedicated and experienced Sourcing Manager to join our Supply Chain & Procurement Department.

General objective

  • To identify, evaluate, qualify, negotiate with, and secure reliable local and international suppliers of raw materials and packaging inputs in order to ensure cost efficiency, quality compliance, regulatory conformity, and uninterrupted production. The role supports strategic sourcing, supplier development, price intelligence, supply risk mitigation, and long-term procurement value creation for the organization.

Responsibilities and Tasks
Supplier Identification & Market Intelligence:

  • Identify and develop new local and international suppliers for critical raw materials, packaging materials, and other strategic inputs.
  • Conduct continuous market research on raw material availability, price trends, supply alternatives, exchange rate impact, and market risks.
  • Build, maintain, and periodically update a supplier database covering approved, potential, alternative, and strategic suppliers.
  • Provide management with timely sourcing intelligence to support procurement planning, budgeting, and strategic decision-making.

Supplier Evaluation & Qualification:

  • Evaluate suppliers based on quality standards, food-grade compliance, NAFDAC, SON, ISO requirements, pricing competitiveness, production capacity, reliability, and ethical practices.
  • Coordinate supplier audits, factory inspections, sample evaluations, documentation reviews, and technical assessments with Quality and Production teams.
  • Lead the onboarding of new suppliers, ensuring required approvals, certifications, specifications, contracts, and compliance documents are in place.
  • Maintain approved supplier lists and ensure supplier qualification records are complete, current, and audit ready.

Strategic Sourcing & Negotiation:

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for key inputs such as milk powder, cereals, oils, premixes, packaging materials, and other production-critical items.
  • Prepare and manage RFQs, supplier comparisons, cost analyses, negotiation summaries, and sourcing recommendations.
  • Negotiate prices, payment terms, credit arrangements, letters of credit, delivery schedules, incoterms, and contractual conditions to obtain best value.
  • Secure reliable long-term supply agreements that protect the company from price volatility, supply disruption, and quality risk.

Cost Optimisation & Risk Management:

  • Monitor raw material price movements and advise management on cost risks, buying opportunities, and procurement timing.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternative sourcing, supplier competition, substitution, consolidation, bulk buying, and improved payment terms.
  • Develop supply risk mitigation plans, including dual sourcing, safety stock strategies, alternative supplier readiness, and contingency procurement plans.
  • Support landing cost analysis for imported materials, including freight, customs, clearing charges, duties, insurance, and foreign exchange exposure.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Production to understand material forecasts, consumption patterns, production schedules, and stock requirements.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure sourced materials meet approved technical specifications, regulatory standards, and food safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with Finance on procurement budgets, payment schedules, supplier credit terms, LC processing, and cash flow alignment.
  • Partner with Warehouse and Logistics teams to ensure timely delivery, proper documentation, inventory visibility, and prevention of stock-outs.

Compliance, Documentation & Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Ensure supplier compliance with NAFDAC, SON, import regulations, food safety requirements, company quality standards, and approved procurement procedures.
  • Maintain complete procurement documentation, including RFQs, quotations, supplier contracts, certificates of analysis, regulatory certificates, import documents, and performance records.
  • Build strong long-term relationships with strategic suppliers while maintaining ethical, transparent, and competitive sourcing practices.
  • Monitor supplier performance against KPIs such as on-time delivery, quality acceptance rate, responsiveness, pricing stability, and documentation accuracy.

Requirements

  • Education degree – Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Engineering, Food Science, Logistics, Economics, or a related field; Master’s degree or professional procurement certification is an added advantage.
  • Work experience – Minimum of 5–10 years’ relevant experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier development, raw material sourcing, or supply chain management, preferably in FMCG, food manufacturing, agro-industrial, or industrial operations. Strong experience in local and international sourcing, supplier qualification, commercial negotiation, import/export logistics, documentation, and ERP-based procurement processes.
  • Computer skills – MS Word, MS Excel & Outlook
  • Language skills – English.
