We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Supply Chain Manager

Location: Kano

General objective

  • To provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for the organisation’s end-to-end supply chain, including procurement, demand and supply planning, logistics, warehousing, inventory management, supplier performance, risk management, and continuous improvement, ensuring reliable service delivery, cost optimisation, compliance, and business growth.

Responsibilities and Task
Leadership & Supervision:

  • Develop and execute the organisation’s end-to-end supply chain strategy in alignment with business objectives.
  • Provide strategic direction for procurement, planning, logistics, warehousing, inventory, and distribution activities.
  • Lead strategic sourcing, supplier selection, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
  • Ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality, service, compliance, and delivery standards.
  • Establish governance for purchase requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, supplier onboarding, and procurement approvals.
  • Monitor market trends, supply risks, and supplier performance to support timely decision-making and business continuity.

Supply Chain & Logistics Management:

  • Oversee integrated supply chain operations from suppliers through to internal customers and final delivery points.
  • Lead transportation, distribution, import/export coordination, and logistics service provider management.
  • Ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective movement of materials, equipment, and services.
  • Develop contingency plans to identify, mitigate, and respond to supply chain disruptions.
  • Optimise supply chain processes to improve lead times, service levels, working capital, and operational costs.

Inventory & Warehouse Management:

  • Set inventory strategy, stock policies, reorder levels, and warehouse performance standards.
  • Ensure accurate inventory records, regular cycle counts, and periodic stock audits.
  • Maintain optimal stock availability while minimising stock-outs, overstocking, obsolescence, and carrying costs.
  • Drive implementation and effective use of inventory, warehouse, ERP, and reporting systems.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, traceability, safety, and security of materials.

Financial & Contract Management:

  • Prepare, manage, and control supply chain budgets, forecasts, and cost improvement plans.
  • Track procurement savings, cost avoidance, working capital impact, and value-for-money initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Finance on payment schedules, supplier reconciliations, landed cost analysis, and budget performance.
  • Ensure effective contract administration, commercial risk control, and compliance with agreed terms and service levels.

Team Leadership & Performance Management:

  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable procurement, logistics, warehouse, inventory, and supply chain team members.
  • Define team structure, roles, objectives, KPIs, and performance standards.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Coach, mentor, and build the capability of the supply chain team to support current and future business needs.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement:

  • Prepare executive-level supply chain performance reports, dashboards, and management updates.
  • Establish, monitor, and improve KPIs covering cost, service, supplier performance, inventory, delivery, risk, and compliance.
  • Support internal and external audits, management reviews, and corrective action plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement, process standardisation, digitalisation, and data-driven decision-making across the supply chain.

Requirements

  • Education Degree – Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • Work experience – 5 – 7 years progressive experience in procurement, logistics, warehouse, inventory, or supply chain roles within the organization.
  • Language skills – English.
  • Computer skills – MS Word, MS Excel & Outlook

Other required skills:

  • Strong understanding of internal procurement procedures, supply chain systems, operational requirements, and compliance standards.
  • Proven record of integrity, leadership, cross-functional collaboration, performance delivery, and readiness for a senior management role.
  • End-to-end supply chain management principles, strategy, planning, and best practices.
  • Strategic sourcing, contract management, supplier relationship management, and negotiation.
  • Inventory optimization, logistics, warehousing, transport, distribution, and demand/supply planning.
  • Budgeting, cost control, working capital management, and value-for-money principles.
  • Regulatory, quality, safety, ethics, and compliance requirements related to procurement and supply chain operations.
