GRID Consulting - The Women for Health Programme (W4H) is a five year DFID- funded health programme with the main objective of addressing the severe shortage of female health workers in five selected states in Northern Nigeria. Women for Health is in full support of the MDG goals focused on reducing child and maternal mortality especially in selected Northern states in Nigeria. It aims to address this through provision of female health workers in order to encourage improved access to health for women. The programme will address critical health sector human resource challenges by using an approach which empowers women as service providers.

Women for Health is operated by a consortium of three organizations namely: Health Partners International UK, Save the Children UK and GRID Consulting Nigeria. The programme has since commenced its activities in Jigawa, Katsina, Zamfara and Yobe with coordination from the programme head office in Kano and now seeks to engage qualified persons to fill the position below:

Job Description
  • The State Accountant will provide financial management support to the programme and ensure the proper management of funds using relevant regulations and financial procedures.
  • The office holder will also maintain records of transactions in the programs' accounting software and other tools relevant for transaction record keeping.
Additional key responsibilities will include:
  • Managing of programs' financial management accounts, including generating timely and relevant financial reports;
  • Implementation of relevant financial and operational policies and procedures in the programs' state office;
  • Assist in the development of expenditure forecast, periodic budget forecast and ensure proper control of periodic expenditure;
  • Manage financial relationship with external stakeholders in the state, such as; banks, donors, contractors, suppliers, Government Departments and agencies
Qualifications
  • Interested candidates must have a Bachelors/HND degree in Accounting or other related discipline with a minimum of 5-years' experience working with international donor funded programs (particularly in financial management).
  • Professional qualification such as ICAN or ACCA is an added advantage.
  • Preferred candidates should be proficient in the use of database tools and have knowledge of at least two (2) accounting software (Quick Books, Peach Tree or SAGE)
Terms and Conditions for Employment
The appointment term will be for a period of 1 year, with the possibility of an extension.
