We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Software Developer

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

  • We're looking for a skilled Software Developer to join our growing engineering team and help design, build, and maintain scalable web and mobile applications that serve thousands of users across Nigeria and beyond.
  • You'll work closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to turn ideas into reliable, well-tested, production-ready software — while continuously improving our codebase, tooling, and engineering practices.
  • This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving real-world problems, writing clean and maintainable code, and taking ownership of features from concept through deployment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software features across the full stack (frontend, backend, and APIs)
  • Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and testable code following industry best practices
  • Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to maintain code quality
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues in a timely manner
  • Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and security
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technical planning for new features and systems
  • Integrate third-party APIs and services (payment gateways, SMS/USSD providers, cloud services, etc.)
  • Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure application reliability
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies — sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and sprint reviews
  • Document technical specifications, system designs, and internal processes
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry trends, and recommend improvements
  • Mentor junior developers and interns as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 2–5 years of professional software development experience
  • Strong proficiency in at least one backend language: Node.js (JavaScript/TypeScript), Python, Java, PHP, or Go
  • Solid experience with frontend technologies: **HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and a modern framework such as React, Vue, or Angular
  • Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
  • Familiarity with RESTful API design and/or GraphQL
  • Proficient with version control systems, particularly Git/GitHub/GitLab
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Experience writing automated tests (unit, integration)
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Qualifications:

  • Experience with containerization tools (**Docker, Kubernetes**)
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture
  • Exposure to mobile development (**React Native, Flutter, Swift, or Kotlin**)
  • Experience integrating Nigerian payment gateways (**Paystack, Flutterwave, Interswitch**)
  • Understanding of data protection regulations (e.g., **NDPR**)
  • Prior experience working in a startup or fast-paced tech environment
  • Contributions to open-source projects
  • Relevant certifications (AWS Certified Developer, Scrum Master, etc.).
