About the Role
- We're looking for a skilled Software Developer to join our growing engineering team and help design, build, and maintain scalable web and mobile applications that serve thousands of users across Nigeria and beyond.
- You'll work closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to turn ideas into reliable, well-tested, production-ready software — while continuously improving our codebase, tooling, and engineering practices.
- This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving real-world problems, writing clean and maintainable code, and taking ownership of features from concept through deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software features across the full stack (frontend, backend, and APIs)
- Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and testable code following industry best practices
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to maintain code quality
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues in a timely manner
- Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and security
- Contribute to architectural decisions and technical planning for new features and systems
- Integrate third-party APIs and services (payment gateways, SMS/USSD providers, cloud services, etc.)
- Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure application reliability
- Participate in Agile ceremonies — sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and sprint reviews
- Document technical specifications, system designs, and internal processes
- Stay current with emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry trends, and recommend improvements
- Mentor junior developers and interns as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 2–5 years of professional software development experience
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language: Node.js (JavaScript/TypeScript), Python, Java, PHP, or Go
- Solid experience with frontend technologies: **HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and a modern framework such as React, Vue, or Angular
- Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
- Familiarity with RESTful API design and/or GraphQL
- Proficient with version control systems, particularly Git/GitHub/GitLab
- Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Experience writing automated tests (unit, integration)
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Qualifications:
- Experience with containerization tools (**Docker, Kubernetes**)
- Familiarity with microservices architecture
- Exposure to mobile development (**React Native, Flutter, Swift, or Kotlin**)
- Experience integrating Nigerian payment gateways (**Paystack, Flutterwave, Interswitch**)
- Understanding of data protection regulations (e.g., **NDPR**)
- Prior experience working in a startup or fast-paced tech environment
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Relevant certifications (AWS Certified Developer, Scrum Master, etc.).
