Job Title: Video Editor

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Department: Creative / Content & Marketing
Reports To: Creative Director / Content Lead

About the Role

  • We're looking for a talented and detail-oriented Video Editor to join our creative team and help produce compelling, high-quality video content across social media, marketing campaigns, and brand storytelling.
  • You'll take raw footage and transform it into polished, engaging videos — from short-form social clips to long-form branded content — while collaborating closely with content creators, marketers, and the design team to maintain a strong, consistent visual identity.
  • This role is ideal for someone with a sharp eye for pacing and storytelling, strong technical editing skills, and the creativity to turn ordinary footage into scroll-stopping content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit raw video and audio footage into polished, publish-ready content for social media (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X), websites, and marketing campaigns
  • Cut and assemble footage according to scripts, storyboards, or creative briefs
  • Add motion graphics, text overlays, transitions, sound effects, and background music to enhance storytelling
  • Color grade and color correct footage to maintain visual consistency across projects
  • Sync audio and video, clean up sound (noise reduction, leveling, mixing)
  • Repurpose long-form content into short-form clips optimized for different platforms (Reels, TikToks, Shorts)
  • Collaborate with the content/marketing team to understand campaign goals and translate briefs into compelling visuals
  • Manage and organize raw footage, project files, and media assets efficiently
  • Stay current with video trends, platform-specific formats, and editing techniques (e.g., trending transitions, captions styles)
  • Ensure all deliverables meet brand guidelines, platform specifications (aspect ratio, resolution, duration), and deadlines
  • Incorporate feedback from stakeholders quickly and professionally through multiple revision rounds
  • Archive and back up completed projects and source files systematically
  • Occasionally assist with on-location or in-studio filming/shooting support (camera operation, lighting setup)

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma / Degree in Film Production, Mass Communication, Media Studies, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience/portfolio)
  • 2–4 years of professional video editing experience (agency, in-house brand, or freelance)
  • Expert proficiency in **Adobe Premiere Pro** and/or **Final Cut Pro**
  • Working knowledge of **Adobe After Effects** for motion graphics and visual effects
  • Solid understanding of **DaVinci Resolve** or similar tools for color grading (a plus if not primary tool)
  • Strong grasp of pacing, storytelling structure, and rhythm in editing
  • Experience editing for multiple platforms and formats (16:9, 9:16, 1:1) and understanding platform-specific best practices
  • Basic sound design and audio mixing skills
  • Strong organizational skills — able to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines simultaneously
  • A portfolio or reel demonstrating range across content types (social, ads, brand films, etc.)
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong eye for visual quality.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Qualifications:

  • Experience with motion graphics/animation (After Effects, Cinema 4D)
  • Photography or videography/cinematography skills (able to shoot as well as edit)
  • Experience with **CapCut** or other mobile-first editing tools for fast-turnaround social content
  • Familiarity with **Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator** for thumbnail and graphic asset creation
  • Understanding of YouTube/TikTok/Instagram algorithms and content optimization
  • Experience with subtitle/caption tools and localization for multilingual content
  • Prior experience in an agency, media house, or fast-paced content team.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Technical: Video editing, color grading, sound design, motion graphics, transcoding/export formats |
  • Tools: Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut |
  • Creative: Storytelling, pacing/rhythm, visual composition, trend awareness |
  • Soft Skills: Time management, attention to detail, collaboration, receiving/applying feedback |
  • Workflow: File organization, version control for media, deadline management |

What We're Looking For (Beyond the Checklist):

  • A reel that shows range — not just technical competence, but creative instinct
  • Someone who can take a vague brief ("make it feel exciting") and deliver something on-brand
  • Comfort working fast for social content while still nailing quality on bigger campaign pieces
  • A collaborative mindset — you'll work closely with creators, marketers, and designers daily.

What We Offer

  • N100,000 – N200,000 net monthly (commensurate with experience) + benefits
  • Competitive salary paid promptly, monthly
  • Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) coverage for you (and optionally dependents)
  • Pension contribution as per Nigerian labor law
  • Hybrid work flexibility
  • Access to professional editing software licenses and equipment
  • Learning & development budget (courses, editing/motion design tutorials, software subscriptions)
  • Performance-based bonuses and salary reviews
  • Creative, fast-paced team culture with real ownership over content output
  • Opportunity to build a strong public portfolio through brand and campaign work
  • Paid annual leave + public holidays.
