Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced, commercially minded, and detail-oriented Legal Advisor – Projects & Investments to provide legal guidance and strategic support on hotel development projects, investment transactions, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
  • The successful candidate will play a critical role in safeguarding the organization’s legal interests by advising on contracts, project financing, acquisitions, partnerships, and investment structures.
  • The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in commercial law, corporate law, real estate, project development, and investment advisory, with the ability to identify legal risks and provide practical business-focused solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on hotel development projects, investments, corporate transactions, and strategic partnerships.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of legal documents, including construction agreements, consultancy contracts, joint venture agreements, service contracts, leases, financing agreements, and investment documentation.
  • Conduct legal due diligence for project acquisitions, investments, financing arrangements, and strategic transactions.
  • Advise management on legal risks associated with project development, procurement, financing, and investment activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, corporate governance requirements, and industry standards.
  • Support negotiations with investors, financial institutions, contractors, consultants, and government agencies.
  • Review land documentation, property transactions, permits, approvals, and title documents relating to development projects.
  • Manage legal aspects of procurement processes and contract administration.
  • Monitor changes in legislation and advise management on legal implications affecting the business.
  • Coordinate with external solicitors, regulatory authorities, and other legal stakeholders when required.
  • Assist in dispute resolution, claims management, arbitration, mediation, and litigation where necessary.
  • Develop and maintain legal policies, compliance frameworks, and risk management procedures.
  • Prepare legal opinions, reports, and presentations for executive management

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (LL.B.) in Law from a recognized institution.
  • Must be qualified to practice law and called to the Nigerian Bar.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ post-call experience in corporate law, commercial law, project finance, construction law, real estate, or investment advisory.
  • Experience advising on large-scale development projects, investments, or infrastructure transactions is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and commercial transactions.
  • Experience conducting legal due diligence and contract negotiations.
  • Excellent legal drafting, negotiation, analytical, and advisory skills.
  • Strong understanding of the Nigerian legal and regulatory framework relating to projects and investments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools.
