We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Internal Audit Officer

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Summary

  • The Incorporated Trustees of Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organisation[hereinafter referred to as “(WEWE)” a women-led, local not-for-profit Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Abuja, Nigeria, is seeking the services of an experienced and results-oriented Internal Audit Officer.
  • WEWE wishes to recruit a talented, God-fearing Internal Audit Officer who has a call from God to serve Widows and Orphans and who believes in working with local organizations. We are looking for someone who has integrity, recognizes Nigerians' ingenuity, and believes that the best of Nigeria can be better than the rest.
  • This position is being recruited based on merit. We do not have a pre-existing candidate and genuinely seek the best candidate to add value to the organisation.

Qualifications

  • Graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting or other social science-related field
  • Applicants with a second-class upper (2.1) or first-class or upper credit or distinction will be an added advantage
  • Must be a full member of ICAN or equivalent
  • Other related professional courses will be an added advantage

Experience Requirements:

  • At least 2 – 3 years’ experience in an audit firm managing similar responsibilities
  • Must have experience in participating in statutory or audits of local NGOs
  • Must be very strong in report writing – i.e., evidence that you have assisted in audit assignments and have been writing the final audit report for your audit firm.
  • Be proficient in the use of Excel, PowerPoint, and QuickBooks accounting software.
  • Thorough understanding of program management, donor reporting requirements, and managing donor relations.
  • Knowledge of conducting audits for projects funded by the Ford Foundation, the United States Government (USG), and other international donors is an added advantage.

Internal Audit Officer Job Descriptions:

  • She/he will assist in carrying out pre- and post-review of all financial expenditures/documents
  • She / he will assist in contributing to the improvement of WEWE control processes, risk management, and governance
  • She / he will assist in performing monthly reviews and evaluations of financial records/reports and bank reconciliation statements
  • She / he will assist in ensuring WEWE and donors’ assets are safeguarded
  • She / he will assist in ensuring that the inventory record is up-to-date, complete, and accurate
  • She / he will assist the organization in carrying out risk identification and timely reporting to the appropriate authority with improvement recommendations
  • She / he will assist in the timely investigation of all cases of fraudulent practices and missing assets
  • She / he will assist in preparing reports that reflect the audit’s results and documents reviewed
  • She / he will assist in documenting the process and preparing the audit findings memorandum
  • S/he will assist in conducting follow-up audits to monitor management’s interventions
  • She / he will assist in periodically carrying out Fraud Awareness and Prevention training for staff
  • She / he will perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
