We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: HVAC Technician

Location: Sagamu Plant, Ogun
Department: Engineering & Maintenance
Reports To: Engineering Supervisor

Job Purpose

  • To install, operate, inspect, maintain, and repair Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems to ensure optimal environmental conditions for pharmaceutical manufacturing, warehousing, laboratories, offices, and other facility areas in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
HVAC Operations:

  • Operate and monitor HVAC systems to ensure continuous and efficient performance.
  • Monitor temperature, humidity, and differential pressure to maintain specified environmental conditions.
  • Ensure uninterrupted operation of HVAC equipment serving production areas, warehouses, laboratories, and offices.
  • Respond promptly to HVAC alarms and system failures.

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC systems and related equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair faults on:
    • Air Handling Units (AHUs).
    • Chillers.
    • Package Units.
    • Split Air Conditioning Systems.
    • Ventilation Systems.
    • Exhaust Fans.
    • Cooling Towers.
    • Air Compressors (where applicable).
    • HVAC Controls and Thermostats.
  • Replace defective components and ensure equipment is restored to service promptly.

Inspection & Monitoring:

  • Conduct routine inspections of HVAC equipment and associated systems.
  • Check refrigerant levels, filters, belts, motors, bearings, coils, and electrical connections.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend corrective actions where necessary.

Documentation:

  • Maintain preventive maintenance records, equipment history, and service reports.
  • Record equipment faults, repairs, and downtime.
  • Complete maintenance documentation in accordance with GMP requirements.

Health, Safety & Compliance:

  • Comply with all company HSE policies and GMP requirements.
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Follow Lock-Out / Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities.
  • Report unsafe conditions and equipment defects promptly.
  • Maintain good housekeeping within work areas.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Recommend improvements to enhance HVAC efficiency and reliability.
  • Support energy conservation initiatives.
  • Participate in equipment upgrades and continuous improvement projects.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • HVAC system uptime and availability.
  • Preventive maintenance compliance.
  • Response time to HVAC breakdowns.
  • Temperature and humidity compliance in controlled areas.
  • Equipment downtime reduction.
  • Energy efficiency improvements.
  • Zero HVAC-related safety incidents.
  • Accurate maintenance documentation.
  • GMP and HSE compliance.

Requirements
Qualifications:

  • OND or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Certification in HVAC / Refrigeration & Air Conditioning is mandatory.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience maintaining HVAC systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical, food, FMCG, or other regulated manufacturing environment is an added advantage.

  • Ability to prepare maintenance reports and maintain electronic maintenance records.
