Job Title: Chief Engineer (Pharmaceutical Manufacturing)

Location: Calabar, Cross River

Job Summary

• The Chief Engineer leads the Engineering Department and is responsible for ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and compliance of all production, utility, and facility equipment in the pharmaceutical plant.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise mechanical, electrical, and utility engineering teams.
• Oversee maintenance of production equipment (granulators, mixers, tablet presses, blistering lines, filling lines).
• Manage utilities: HVAC, boilers, compressors, water systems (RO/DM), generators.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Ensure equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) and calibration compliance.
• Coordinate engineering support during audits (NAFDAC, GMP, ISO).
• Plan and execute equipment installation, upgrades, and facility expansion.
• Manage engineering budgets, spare parts inventory, and vendor relationships.
• Ensure strict adherence to GMP, safety, and engineering standards.
• Lead root‑cause analysis for breakdowns and implement corrective actions.

Requirements

• B.Eng / HND in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
• 7–12 years engineering experience in a pharmaceutical or FMCG manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, HVAC systems, utilities, and production machinery.
• Proven leadership and project management skills.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
