We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist - Haematologist

Location: Benin City, Edo
Employment Type: Full-time

Description

  • We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team.
  • The ideal candidate will perform laboratory investigations, ensure accurate and timely reporting of results, maintain quality standards, and support clinicians in delivering excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tests in accordance with established standards and protocols.
  • Collect, process, analyze, and report laboratory specimens accurately and promptly.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance and quality control procedures.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control measures as well as laboratory safety standards.
  • Monitor laboratory inventory and request replenishment of reagents and consumables.
  • Participate in internal and external quality assurance programmes.
  • Communicate critical laboratory results promptly to the appropriate healthcare providers.
  • Ensure compliance with Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) regulations and hospital policies.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Laboratory.

Requirements
Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.MLS/BMLS) in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized institution.
  • Current practicing licence issued by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
  • NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.

Experience:

  • 1–3 years post-NYSC experience in a reputable hospital or diagnostic laboratory.
  • Experience in one or more laboratory disciplines (Haematology, Chemical Pathology, Microbiology, Histopathology, Blood Transfusion, or Molecular Diagnostics) is an added advantage.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of laboratory procedures and quality management systems.
  • Ability to operate modern laboratory equipment.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) is an added advantage.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid MLSCN practising licence.
  • Strong commitment to ethical and professional practice.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays when required.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.
  • Candidate must be proactive, dependable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the job location.
