Job Title: Depot Manager – Aviation Depot

Location: Abuja (FCT) 
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Depot Manager will be responsible for the overall administration and operational management of the Aviation Depot, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, quality control, inventory management, and dispatch of Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK) and other aviation products.
  • The role requires strong leadership, operational excellence, and strict adherence to safety and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Operations Management:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Aviation Depot.
  • Ensure efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of ATK and other approved petroleum products.
  • Coordinate product loading and delivery schedules to meet customer requirements.
  • Monitor depot activities to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Inventory & Stock Control:

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and daily stock reconciliations.
  • Monitor product losses, gains, and variances, ensuring they remain within acceptable limits.
  • Ensure periodic stock verification and reconciliation.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports.

Safety, Health & Environment (HSE):

  • Ensure full compliance with all HSE policies, procedures, and statutory regulations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout the depot.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, emergency drills, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure that all firefighting and emergency response equipment are operational and properly maintained.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including those of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and other relevant agencies.
  • Coordinate regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Maintain all statutory licences, permits, and operational records.

Commercial & Customer Service:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with airline customers, marketers, transporters, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely resolution of customer complaints and operational issues.
  • Support business development initiatives to increase depot throughput and profitability.

Fleet & Logistics Coordination:

  • Coordinate truck movements and loading schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation safety standards.
  • Monitor truck turnaround time and delivery performance.

Leadership & Administration:

  • Supervise depot personnel and contractors.
  • Conduct staff performance reviews and identify training needs.
  • Ensure adherence to Company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare operational budgets and monitor expenditure.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The successful candidate will be evaluated based on:

  • Depot operational efficiency.
  • Product stock accuracy and reconciliation.
  • Zero product contamination incidents.
  • HSE compliance and zero lost-time incidents.
  • Depot uptime and equipment availability.
  • Customer satisfaction and service delivery.
  • Regulatory compliance.
  • Cost control and budget adherence.
  • Truck turnaround time.
  • Timely submission of operational reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications in HSE, Petroleum Operations, Supply Chain, or Logistics Management will be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years' relevant experience in petroleum depot operations, aviation fuel operations, or downstream oil and gas logistics.
  • At least 3 years in a supervisory or management position.
  • Experience managing aviation fuel depots or airport fuel operations will be a distinct advantage.

Required Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of aviation fuel handling and depot operations.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Inventory management and reconciliation expertise.
  • Sound understanding of petroleum industry regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems.
