We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head Accountant

Location: Egbeda, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • Oversee the Company's financial operations by ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective budgeting, cash flow management, and compliance with applicable accounting standards and statutory regulations.
  • Manage project and property accounting, including monitoring development costs, construction expenditures, property sales, rental income, and profitability to support sound financial decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls, accounting policies, and financial systems to safeguard Company assets, mitigate financial risks, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure timely preparation of financial statements, tax filings, statutory remittances, and audit requirements while maintaining compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards for financial documentation and process control.
  • Provide strategic financial leadership by supervising the accounting team, advising Management on financial performance and investment decisions, and supporting the achievement of the Company's business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS, statutory requirements, and Company policies.
  • Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes.
  • Monitor budgets, project costs, cash flow, and profitability, providing timely financial reports and variance analyses.
  • Manage tax compliance, statutory filings, and internal/external audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory and ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls, accounting policies, and financial risk management systems.
  • Support procurement and project teams with financial evaluations, payment schedules, and cost control.
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor the accounting team while driving continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting.

Qualifications and Experience
Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; ACA/ICAN certification is an added advantage.

Experience:

  • 4 - 7 years experience in accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax laws, and ISO 9001:2015 documentation requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or ERP systems) and MS Excel.
