The thought of creating TERAWORK came to our founder in 2015 after an unpleasant experience where he engaged and worked remotely with an unknown person he met online to help complete a tech project. While it is clear he needed help from an expert for a few days, he didn’t get one. What contributed to the bad experience include lack of online platforms within the region with an end-to-end process for employing remote manpower in a flexible and safe manner.

In response, he created a process he uses repeatedly to find and engage, on on-demand basis, independent workers for his tasks. Unlike before, the process enables both himself and his independent worker trust working remotely with each other. He decided to build the process into a technology for a lot of people to benefit from.

Two years down the line, that technology becomes the foundation of our online freelance marketplace where businesses can conveniently engage, on ‘pay-as-you-go’ basis, freelance professionals across various services including software, mobile apps development, contents writing, creative designs, web design, SEO, digital marketing, animation production, audio/video services, photography, events planning, virtual assistance etc. to work on their projects. TERAWORK is pioneering new ways to inject efficiency and higher productivity into getting workforce.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Buyer (Food Section)

Job Summary

• We are seeking an experienced Buyer – Food to manage the procurement and replenishment of food products across our retail operations.
• The ideal candidate will ensure optimal product availability, maintain healthy inventory levels, and build strong supplier relationships while delivering excellent value to customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the procurement and replenishment of assigned food categories.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely stock replenishment based on sales trends and demand forecasts.
• Prevent stock-outs while minimizing excess inventory and product waste.
• Work closely with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries, product quality, and compliance with agreed standards.
• Monitor shelf life and proactively manage short-dated and near-expiry products.
• Ensure proper stock rotation using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles.
• Analyze sales performance, customer demand, and market trends to optimize purchasing decisions.
• Conduct competitor price and assortment benchmarking.
• Prepare reports on inventory performance, stock turnover, shrinkage, and purchasing activities.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with company policies and financial controls.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or HND in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing & Supply, Marketing, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in buying or procurement within the food retail, supermarket, or FMCG industry.
• Experience managing food categories such as grocery, beverages, dairy, frozen foods, fresh produce, or packaged foods.
• Strong understanding of inventory planning, demand forecasting, and supplier management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/inventory management systems.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

Salary
N150,000 – N190,000 monthly.
