Small Mammal Conservation Organization (SMACON) is a non-governmental organization committed to the protection of small mammals and their habitat through evidence-based conservation that safeguards local livelihoods. We work with local, regional and international partners to deploy SMACON's mission. We are looking for passionate individuals who are dedicated to the documentation and protection of biodiversity in Nigeria, the Gulf of Guinea Islands, and supporting our network of partners across West Africa.

We are recruiting to fill the position below

Job Title: Driver

Location: Calabar, Cross River
Employment type: Full-time

Responsibilities

• Safely transport staff, guests, and field equipment between the office and designated locations.
• Navigate routes across core project areas; knowledge of additional routes in Southern Nigeria is an advantage.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Maintain a clean, well-organised vehicle at all times.

Qualifications

• Minimum of Senior Secondary School Certificate (NECO/WAEC) or equivalent.
• Valid Nigerian Driver's Licence.

Skills / Experience:

• Defensive driving skills and strong situational awareness.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a disciplined approach to vehicle care.
• First Aid certification is an advantage; willingness to undertake training is required.
• Clean driving record with no serious traffic offences within the last 3 years.
