Job Title: Machinist / Fitter Mechanic

Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Description

  • This is a full-time, on-site role for a Machinist / Fitter Mechanic based at our facility.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machine tools to manufacture and repair components in accordance with engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • The role requires a sound understanding of machining processes, precision measurement techniques, and quality standards to ensure that all parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and to specification.
  • The Machinist / Fitter Mechanic plays a critical role in supporting production operations by fabricating, fitting, assembling, and maintaining machinery components, tools, and equipment.
  • The position demands a high level of technical competence, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and continuous improvement to ensure optimal equipment performance and production reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machines such as lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, and grinders.
  • Install and align tools, attachments, and workpieces.
  • Adjust machine settings for speed, feed rate, and cutting depth.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Understand tolerances, dimensions, and machining instructions.
  • Use measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, and gauges to ensure accuracy.
  • Inspect finished products to confirm they meet required specifications.
  • Select appropriate materials (metal, plastic, alloys).
  • Cut raw materials to size before machining.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines.
  • Report or repair minor mechanical faults.
  • Ensure produced components meet quality and safety standards.
  • Identify defects and adjust to prevent production errors.
  • Record production details, machine settings, and completed work.
  • Report progress and issues to supervisors or production managers.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of an OND / Technical College Certificate / Trade Test in Mechanical Fittings /Turning / Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of three (3) years working experience in manufacturing companies.

Salary
N130,000 - N150,000 monthly.
