Job Description

• We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Procurement Specialist to join our civil construction team. In this role, you will lead the sourcing, negotiation, and acquisition of construction materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
• You will ensure all project procurement is cost-effective, high-quality, and delivered on schedule to keep our civil engineering projects running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

• Sourcing & Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers and subcontractors for civil construction materials (e.g., cement, steel, aggregates, asphalt, piping) and heavy machinery/plant hire.
• Cost Estimation & BOQ Review: Analyze Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and technical drawings to estimate material quantities, prepare cost comparisons, and ensure alignment with project budgets.
• Negotiation & Contract Management: Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best commercial terms without compromising quality or safety.
• Purchase Order (PO) Processing: Prepare, issue, and track purchase orders, ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant with company policies.
• Logistics & Delivery Coordination: Coordinate with site managers, logistics teams, and suppliers to schedule timely deliveries to various construction sites, minimizing project downtime.
• Market Analysis: Monitor market trends, price fluctuations of construction materials, and supply chain risks to proactively develop cost-saving sourcing strategies.
• Quality Assurance: Collaborate with project engineers to ensure all procured materials meet required technical specifications, industry standards, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Building Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 - 10 years of proven experience as a Procurement Specialist or Buyer specifically within the civil construction or civil engineering industry.
• Added Advantage: A background or formal training in Quantity Surveying (QS) is highly desirable and will be given strong preference.
• Technical Skills: Strong ability to read construction drawings, interpret Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and use procurement or ERP software.
• Key Competencies: Exceptional negotiation, contract management, analytical, and communication skills.
• Attributes: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working under pressure to meet tight project deadlines across multiple construction sites.

Salary
N350,000 - N500,000 per month.
