Blue Phoenix Deepwater Limited is a 100% Nigerian-owned company with offices in the United Kingdom and Nigeria. The company was established to be an international player with regional strength as a provider of underwater and topside IRM (Inspection, Repair, and Maintenance) of FPSOs, Rigs, SPMs, and offshore and onshore terminals /platforms, primarily in Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Barge Master

Location: Offshore, Nigeria
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Acts as Head of the Marine Department Offshore
• Deputizes for Master/OIM in the event that the Master/OIM becomes incapacitated, second in command of the Vessel
• Reviews and updates Risk Assessments & Rig Specific Work Methods with Marine crews on a regular basis
• Ensure the appropriate Risk Assessment is reviewed prior to the commencement of each task
• Update Risk Assessments and Rig Specific Work Methods and Procedures, following task completion where lessons learned can positively affect future similar operation
• Supervise safety drills and emergency team training, ensuring that they are carried out in accordance with the company's expectations

Required Skills and Experience

• Valid UK Class 1 (Master Mariner) Certificate of Competency or equivalent
• DP certificate if serving on DP units
• Previous, extensive experience as a Barge Master on deep-water drilling vessel
• Exposure to operations in areas such as Dynamic Positioning Officer/Senior Dynamic Positioning Officer on a drilling vessel including extensive Watch keeping
• 18 years relative experience
• Ability to make rational decisions in high pressure situations
• Ship's Security Officer (ISPS Code)
• Management of Major Emergencies
• IWCF Well Control – Level 2
• Nationality: Nigerian
