The company was established to be an international player with regional strength as a provider of underwater and topside IRM (Inspection, Repair, and Maintenance) of FPSOs, Rigs, SPMs, and offshore and onshore terminals /platforms, primarily in Nigeria.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Boatswain (Bosun)
Location: Offshore, Nigeria
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- The primary role of the Bosun is to relieve the Barge Master and Barge Engineer from their day-to-day routine and maintenance tasks to enable them to fulfil their duties as supervisors
- The role is 'hands on' and will require that the majority of the working shift is spent on deck
- Assist in the planned maintenance routines of Life Saving Appliances, Fire Fighting equipment and other marine equipment under the direction of the Barge Master/Engineer
- Establish and maintain a Bosun's store/workshop for use in the completion of Bosun's duties
- Assist in the issue, control and inventory of lifting equipment from the Lifting Gear Locker
- Ensure lifting equipment is checked before issue and is fit for purpose
- Current color code I.D. and SWL to be clearly marked
Required Skills and Experience
- Relevant Offshore Certification
- Deck Rating 1
- Previous suitable experience as a Bosun offshore or Chief Petty Officer at sea
- Leadership and direction of colleagues
- Organizational skills and self-motivation
- 5 years' relative experience
- Nationality: Nigerian
