Hire Haven - Our client is a leading integrated agribusiness operating a US$40 million feed mill and poultry enterprise in Ngor Okpalla, Imo State.

Our operations include a 10-metric-tonne-per-hour automated feed mill and a modern poultry facility with a total capacity of approximately 880,000 birds, producing an estimated 178 million eggs annually. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Quality Control, Quality Assurance & Laboratory Manager

Location: Ngor Okpalla, Imo

Job Summary

  • As the Quality Control, Quality Assurance & Laboratory Manager, you will oversee the entire quality management system for our feed mill—from incoming raw materials through production, laboratory testing, finished product release, and customer complaints.
  • You will have independent authority to approve, quarantine, or reject materials and finished products, ensuring that quality standards are never compromised.
  • You will work closely with Production, Procurement, Nutrition, and Engineering teams while maintaining the independence required to make objective quality decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve the feed mill's Quality Management System.
  • Oversee inspection, sampling, laboratory testing, and release of raw materials and finished feed.
  • Manage mycotoxin, contaminant, adulteration, and feed safety control programmes.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
  • Lead laboratory operations, equipment calibration, testing accuracy, and data integrity.
  • Investigate quality deviations, customer complaints, and non-conformities, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Maintain traceability systems and support product recall readiness.
  • Develop and mentor the Quality Assurance and Laboratory team.
  • Partner with Procurement to strengthen supplier quality performance.
  • Promote a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and technical excellence across operations.

Requirements
Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Animal Nutrition, Feed Science, Analytical Chemistry, Food Safety, Quality Management, or a related discipline (Master's degree is an advantage).
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or laboratory operations within animal feed, premix, poultry, or a comparable agro-processing environment.
  • At least 3 years' experience leading a quality or laboratory team in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience in feed testing, proximate analysis, sampling procedures, mycotoxin management, and laboratory operations.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, quality management systems, and laboratory quality principles.
  • Experience preparing for regulatory inspections and external audits.
  • Professional certifications in HACCP, Food/Feed Safety, ISO Auditing, Laboratory Quality, or related disciplines will be an added advantage.
  • Experience within a commercial feed mill or integrated agribusiness is strongly preferred.
