We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Mechanical and Electrical Engineer
Location: Ilorin, Kwara
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance:
- Carry out preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production and packaging equipment.
- Diagnose and repair both mechanical and electrical faults affecting manufacturing operations.
- Ensure maximum equipment availability and minimize production downtime.
- Conduct routine inspections of machinery and utilities to identify potential issues before failure.
- Maintain maintenance schedules and ensure timely completion of all planned maintenance activities.
Installation & Commissioning:
- Install, test, and commission new production equipment and utility systems.
- Participate in equipment qualification, validation, and performance verification.
- Support factory expansion and engineering improvement projects.
Electrical Systems:
- Maintain electrical distribution systems, motors, control panels, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and Motor Control Centres (MCCs).
- Troubleshoot electrical control circuits and instrumentation systems.
- Support maintenance of PLC-controlled production equipment and automation systems.
Mechanical Systems:
- Maintain pumps, compressors, injection moulds, HVAC systems, conveyors, chilled water systems, purified water systems, compressed air systems, and other mechanical utilities.
- Perform alignment, lubrication, calibration, and replacement of mechanical components.
- Ensure efficient operation of all plant utility systems.
Production Support:
- Provide prompt engineering support during production operations.
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to reduce downtime.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Validation, and HSE teams to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
Continuous Improvement
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Recommend engineering solutions to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, productivity, and energy utilization.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history, and service reports.
- Update preventive maintenance schedules and spare parts inventory records.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, SOPs, HSE policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in internal and external audits as required.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Equipment uptime and availability
- Preventive Maintenance (PM) compliance rate
- Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
- Reduction in equipment breakdowns and production downtime
- Utility systems availability
- Completion of maintenance schedules
- Compliance with GMP, HSE, and SOP requirements
- Accuracy and timeliness of maintenance documentation
- Contribution to cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives
- Effective response time to engineering emergencies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
- COREN registration or NSE membership is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3–5 years relevant engineering experience in a pharmaceutical, FMCG, food processing, or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of industrial mechanical and electrical systems, utilities, and automation.
- Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and engineering documentation.

- Must comply with all safety requirements and wear prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
