Performance Analysis Intern at Sporting Lagos Academy

Sporting Lagos Academy - We're not building a club that just wins matches. We're building an institution that changes what football means in Lagos and across Nigeria — a club that young players want to join before they think about leaving the country, that families plan their weekends around, and that naturally shows up in music, fashion, and everyday conversation because it matters to people's lives.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Performance Analysis Intern

Location: Lagos

About the Role

  • The Performance Analysis department supports player development, coaching decisions, and recruitment.
  • Coaches use analysis to prepare for opponents and to show players exactly what to work on. Recruitment uses it to assess players properly before the club signs them.

What You'll Do
Film and code:

  • Record academy matches and selected training sessions
  • Code matches using LongoMatch, Hudl Sportscode, or equivalent
  • Tag training exercises to departmental standards

Report:

  • Produce post-match reports within 24 hours of each fixture
  • Pull the tactical moments coaches and players need to see
  • Build individual player video packages for one-to-one feedback sessions

Keep the archive clean:

  • Maintain the academy video archive: labelled, stored, backed up, no missing fixtures
  • Keep player databases organised

What You'll Learn & Gain
Very few people in Nigeria get to learn analysis inside a professional academy that takes it seriously. You'll be trained on the full analysis workflow and mentored by working analysts. Beyond your own responsibilities, you'll get exposure to:

  • Opposition analysis and match preparation
  • Recruitment — how the club assesses players before it signs them
  • First team analysis
  • A portfolio of actual work on actual players
  • Professional analysis software and video workflows

What We're Looking For

  • You understand football tactically and want to go deeper
  • You are organised, and you meet deadlines
  • You take feedback and improve
  • You are reliable
  • You can maintain confidentiality

Desirable:

  • Hands-on experience with LongoMatch, Hudl Sportscode, Wyscout, Veo, or Excel
  • Previous experience with analysis software is useful but not required. We will train you.
  • A background in sports science, performance analysis, data analytics, or computer science is desirable, as is a strong body of analytical work.
  • Neither is required. Certifications (PFSA, NIS, ISF, FIFA Training Centre or similar) are an advantage, not a requirement.

What We Offer

  • A stipend
  • Company-provided work tools
  • A team that is kind, committed, and holds a high bar
  • The chance to be part of something generational: a club building for decades, not just seasons.

Application Closing Date
Not Specified.
