CCETC Ogua Energy Limited (COEL) is a proudly independent power producer principally engaged in the business of developing power plants from the Engineering, Procurement & Construction stage, through the actual project execution, management, supervision to the operation and maintenance regime.

In Nigeria, we have 40MW installed in Sagamu, 12MW installed in Lekki Free Zone, 55MW in Ossiomo in Edo state, 14MW Rongtai Lagos Benin bypass and also 21MW in WEMPCO at Magboro. In those places mentioned, are our generating plants in Nigeria.

Job Title: Mid-Level Accountant

Location: Lagos-Ibadan Expressway - Lagos

Job Summary

  • We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly motivated, and proactive Mid-Level Accountant to oversee and manage day-to-day financial operations.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with local tax regulations, performing bank reconciliations, and preparing timely monthly financial reports.
  • As a core member of our finance team, you will ensure financial operations align with Nigerian statutory regulations and support overall organizational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Record Keeping & Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date daily financial transactions within the accounting system. Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR), ensuring timely vendor payments and collections. Oversee and update the Fixed Asset Register (FAR).
  • Tax & Statutory Compliance: Accurately compute, file, and remit monthly statutory deductions, including VAT, WHT, PAYE, Pension, NSITF, and ITF. Ensure compliance with FIRS (Federal Inland Revenue Service) and LIRS (State Internal Revenue Service) regulations. Assist in compiling annual Corporate Income Tax (CIT) returns.
  • Reconciliation & Reporting: Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations to resolve discrepancies promptly. Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement). Conduct periodic inventory reconciliations and stock valuations.
  • Audit Support & Administration: Facilitate internal and external audit processes by providing all requested documentation, files, and transaction schedules. Ensure systematic archiving and safe preservation of all physical and digital financial records.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc.) or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Graduation Timeline: Must have graduated within the last five years.
  • Experience: Two to five years of post-graduation corporate accounting experience. Experience in multicultural or international corporate environments is an added advantage.
  • Professional Certification: Must be currently pursuing or have completed part of the ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) or ACCA qualification.
  • Software Proficiency: Practical experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP platforms. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and financial data modelling.
  • Core Attributes: Excellent understanding of IFRS and Nigerian tax regulations. High level of professional integrity, confidentiality, and ethics. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
