We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Music Teacher

Location: Abuja (FCT) 
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • The music teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging music lessons that inspire students' creativity, develop their musical abilities, and foster an appreciation for music and the performing arts.
  • The teacher will prepare students for internal and external examinations, organize musical performances, and contribute to the overall cultural life of the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality music lessons in accordance with the school's curriculum and educational standards.
  • Teach various aspects of music, including theory, practical performance, composition, and music appreciation.
  • Develop lesson plans and schemes of work that cater to students' varying abilities and learning styles.
  • Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods into music instruction.
  • Prepare students for internal and external examinations such as WAEC, NECO, and other relevant assessments.
  • Identify and nurture students' musical talents and interests.
  • Encourage creativity, self-expression, and confidence through music activities.
  • Provide additional support to students who require academic assistance.
  • Monitor and evaluate students' progress and provide timely feedback.
  • Prepare and administer tests, assignments, and examinations.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' attendance, performance, and assessments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music, Music Education, Performing Arts, or a related field.
  • Teaching qualification (PGDE, TRCN certification, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3-6years of teaching experience in a secondary school setting.
  • Proficiency in playing one or more musical instruments.
  • Knowledge of vocal training, choir management, and music theory.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of educational technology and digital music tools.
