Job Title: Instrumentation Engineer (Process Automation & Field Instrumentation)

Job Purpose
- The Instrumentation Engineer (Process Automation & Field Instrumentation) is responsible for the design, specification, integration, procurement support, installation, testing, commissioning, and lifecycle management of process control, field instrumentation, and automation systems for an Ethane-to-Polymers (E2P) plant.
- The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations by delivering instrumentation and control systems that comply with project specifications, international standards, and process safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Instrumentation & Control Engineering:
- Develop and review instrumentation philosophies, design basis documents, instrument index, I/O lists, and control narratives.
- Prepare and review instrument datasheets, specifications, hook-up drawings, loop diagrams, cable schedules, and wiring diagrams.
- Develop and review Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) from an instrumentation perspective.
- Specify, size, and select field instruments for process measurement and control.
- Ensure all instrumentation designs comply with project specifications, process requirements, and international standards.
Process Automation:
- Design and support Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), Fire & Gas (F&G) Systems, and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
- Develop control philosophies, logic diagrams, cause-and-effect matrices, and functional design specifications.
- Configure, test, and validate automation systems in collaboration with vendors and system integrators.
- Support Human Machine Interface (HMI) and operator workstation development.
- Integrate automation systems with plant information and monitoring systems.
Field Instrumentation:
Provide engineering support for:
- Pressure, Temperature, Flow, and Level Instruments
- Control Valves and On-Off Valves
- Pressure Safety Devices
- Analyzers and Sampling Systems
- Gas Detection Systems
- Fire Detection System.
Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS):
- Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, LOPA, and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) studies.
- Develop and review Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS).
- Verify SIL compliance and support functional safety assessments.
- Ensure compliance with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 standards.
Construction, Commissioning & Start-up:
- Provide technical support during installation and construction activities.
- Review instrument installation, calibration, and testing procedures.
- Support loop checking, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and plant start-up.
- Witness Site Acceptance Tests (SATs), functional tests, and integrated system tests.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and automation issues during commissioning and operation.
Maintenance & Reliability:
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for instrumentation and control systems.
- Conduct failure investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Recommend improvements to enhance system reliability and availability.
- Support instrument calibration programs and maintenance planning.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Master's Degree is an added advantage.
- 10–15years of experience in instrumentation, process automation, and control engineering.
