Tonia Pharmacy Limited was incorporated in the year 2003 (RC: 497235) to carry on business as a pharmaceutical company. Since its inception, the company has grown to become one of the most reputable pharmacies in Nigeria, with several branches located within the FCT, Abuja.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Pharmacist

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Reports To: Branch Manager / Superintendent Pharmacist

Job Summary

  • The Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and lawful dispensing of medications, providing professional pharmaceutical care, counseling patients, managing prescriptions, supervising pharmacy staff, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting business growth through excellent customer service and professional practice.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Prescription Processing & Dispensing:

  • Review and interpret prescriptions for accuracy and legality.
  • Dispense medications accurately according to prescriptions.
  • Verify dosage, route, interactions, contraindications, and allergies.
  • Maintain proper labeling and packaging of medications.
  • Handle controlled drugs in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Patient Counseling & Pharmaceutical Care:

  • Counsel patients on proper medication use.
  • Explain dosage, side effects, storage, and precautions.
  • Monitor patient medication therapy outcomes.
  • Recommend OTC medications where appropriate.
  • Promote medication adherence.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Identify and resolve drug therapy problems.
  • Detect prescription errors and communicate with prescribers.
  • Monitor adverse drug reactions.
  • Provide drug information to patients and healthcare professionals.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with Pharmacists Council of Nigeria regulations.
  • Maintain a valid pharmacist license and annual practicing certificate.
  • Ensure ethical pharmacy practice standards.
  • Maintain accurate statutory documentation and records.

Inventory & Stock Management:

  • Monitor stock levels and expiry dates.
  • Prevent stock-outs and overstocking.
  • Ensure FEFO/FIFO stock rotation.
  • Supervise storage conditions.
  • Report damaged, expired, or counterfeit products.

Supervision & Team Leadership:

  • Supervise pharmacy interns, technicians, and support staff.
  • Provide training and mentoring.
  • Ensure discipline, punctuality, and professional conduct.
  • Delegate duties effectively.

Customer Service & Business Growth:

  • Build strong customer relationships.
  • Resolve complaints professionally.
  • Promote pharmacy services and health campaigns.
  • Support sales targets ethically.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain prescription records.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
  • Document incidents and interventions.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) / Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D)
  • Full registration with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria
  • Valid annual practicing license
  • Relevant pharmacy practice experience.
