Job Title: Electrical Lead

Job Summary

  • The Electrical Lead reports to the MEP Lead and will be responsible for providing technical leadership and overseeing the successful execution of all electrical works for a premium international hotel development.
  • The successful candidate will ensure that all electrical installations, testing, commissioning, and quality assurance activities comply with approved designs, international hospitality standards, applicable electrical codes, and project specifications.
  • The role will lead electrical site operations, coordinate contractors and consultants, manage quality assurance processes, and ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, building management, and other specialist systems to support timely project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination, execution, and supervision of all electrical works, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
  • Provide technical oversight for low-voltage power distribution systems, lighting installations, lighting control systems, containment, earthing and bonding systems, lightning protection, and electrical interfaces with fire alarm, life safety, building management, and extra-low voltage systems.
  • Coordinate closely with electrical consultants, architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to resolve technical issues, review design changes, and ensure effective project execution.
  • Supervise electrical subcontractors and site teams, ensuring workmanship meets project specifications, international hospitality brand standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce electrical quality assurance and quality control procedures throughout all phases of project execution.
  • Manage electrical testing, inspection, energisation, and commissioning activities while ensuring complete documentation and witnessed testing records are maintained for project handover.
  • Review contractor method statements, inspection records, material approvals, and technical submittals to ensure compliance with engineering and project requirements.
  • Coordinate electrical works with mechanical, plumbing, interior fit-out, and finishing activities to minimize conflicts and ensure efficient project sequencing.
  • Monitor project progress, identify construction risks, recommend corrective actions, and provide regular technical reports to project management.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements while promoting safe working practices across all electrical activities.
  • Support project planning, resource allocation, procurement coordination, and material inspections to ensure uninterrupted project execution.
  • Build effective working relationships with project consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to achieve project objectives and maintain high standards of delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • COREN registration, NSE membership, or an equivalent recognised professional engineering qualification is required.
  • 8–10 years of progressive experience delivering electrical building services within hospitality, commercial, mixed-use, or high-end construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading electrical site delivery, contractor coordination, quality assurance, testing, and commissioning activities on large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems, power distribution, lighting systems, earthing, lightning protection, electrical containment, and building electrical infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience conducting electrical testing, inspection, energisation, commissioning, and performance verification activities.
  • Sound knowledge of BS 7671, BS EN 62305, relevant IEC standards, and Nigerian electrical regulations and industry best practices.
  • Experience coordinating electrical interfaces with Fire Detection and Alarm Systems (FDAS), Fire Life Safety Systems (FLS), Building Management Systems (BMS), Extra-Low Voltage (ELV), generators, UPS, ATS, and power resilience systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical QA/QC processes, inspection procedures, contractor supervision, and project documentation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with project collaboration platforms such as Monday.com and Notion will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment while delivering high-quality results within project timelines.
