Brilliant Performance Solutions Limited - Our client, a key player in the Marine Industry that runs a Maritime School, is recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Health & Safety Officer

Locations: Sapele / Warri - Delta, and Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Description

  • The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience and Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Marine Engineering, or a related fields (preferred).
  • A previous experience in the same role in the Maritime Industry will be an advantage.
  • For logistic reasons, the position will favors candidates residing within Warri or Sapele or other areas close to those vicinities.

The job responsibilities for this role are:

  • HSE System Implementation: Implement and enforce the company’s HSE management system
  • Risk Assessment & Hazard Identification: Develop and conduct risk assessments identifying hazards and implementing control measures to mitigate risks.
  • Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations of any incidents, near misses, or safety concerns utilizing formal methodologies. Ensure root cause analysis is conducted and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Daily & Weekly Reporting: Prepare daily and weekly HSE performance reports, summarizing incidents, observations, safety interventions, and compliance statistics for review by senior management and clients.
  • Emergency Response: Lead emergency preparedness and response activities, including conducting drills and ensuring all personnel are trained in emergency procedures and first aid.
  • HSE Training & Safety Inductions: Conduct safety inductions and toolbox talks for new personnel onboard, as well as provide ongoing HSE training for crew members and contractors.
  • Compliance with Client & Regulatory Standards: Ensure compliance with Client safety standards and regulations, as well as international and local maritime safety regulations.
  • First Aid & Medical Response: Act as the primary point of contact for onboard first aid and medical emergencies, ensuring all incidents are handled promptly and in accordance with protocols.
