At Access Heart Foundation, we are dedicated to transforming the healthcare landscape for underserved communities across Nigeria, with a primary focus on heart health. Despite cardiovascular disease being the leading cause of death globally, access to life-saving cardiac interventions remains out of reach for hundreds of millions of Nigerians, particularly in Northern Nigeria. The crisis is especially acute for children: over 80% of Nigerian children born with congenital heart defects die, compared to less than 5% in high-income countries. This disparity is not inevitable, it’s the result of geographic and economic barriers that we are systematically dismantling.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Communication & Storytelling Intern

About the Role

  • The Communications & Storytelling Intern will own AHF's external narrative: managing content, communications, social media, events, and the patient storytelling initiative that sits at the heart of how AHF connects with the public, donors, and partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage AHF's social media presence across all platforms: developing and scheduling content that reflects AHF's work, values, and voice
  • Lead the patient storytelling initiative: coordinating the production of four patient documentary films, liaising with the videographer, and managing the pre-shoot and post-production process
  • Plan and coordinate AHF events and future community and stakeholder events
  • Write and edit external communications — newsletters, press releases, donor updates, website content, and social media copy
  • Develop and maintain AHF's visual identity and communications standards across all materials
  • Work closely with the Partnerships Manager to ensure fundraising materials are aligned with AHF's storytelling strategy
  • Manage media relationships and support press coverage of AHF's work
  • Maintain AHF's website and ensure it reflects the organisation's current scale and activities.

Requirements
What We Are Looking For:

  • Strong writing and editing skills — ability to write clearly and compellingly for a range of audiences
  • Experience managing social media accounts and developing content strategies
  • Experience coordinating events or productions — film, live events, or both
  • Strong visual sensibility — experience with Canva, Adobe, or equivalent design tools
  • Genuine interest in health, social impact, or public advocacy
  • Organised, creative, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneousl.
