We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Debt Financing Manager

Location: Lagos

Description

  • We are seeking an experienced Debt Financing Banker to originate, structure, and execute debt financing transactions for corporate, institutional, and sponsor clients.
  • The successful candidate will play a key role in advising clients on capital structure decisions, leading debt issuance processes, and managing relationships with borrowers, lenders, and investors across the debt capital markets.
  • Maritime and Oil & Gas upstream will be the primary debt capital market.

Core Responsibilities

  • Originate and develop new debt financing opportunities for maritime across leveraged loans, high-yield bonds, investment-grade debt, private placements, and structured credit products.
  • Structure debt transactions tailored to client needs, balancing cost of capital, covenant flexibility, and market conditions.
  • Lead due diligence processes, including financial modeling, credit analysis, and risk assessment for prospective borrowers.
  • Prepare and present pitch books, offering memoranda, credit presentations, and rating agency materials.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel, rating agencies, and internal risk/credit committees to progress transactions from mandate to close.
  • Manage the full transaction lifecycle: marketing, investor roadshows, pricing, allocation, and closing.
  • Build and maintain relationships with corporate treasurers, CFOs, private equity sponsors, and institutional investors.
  • Monitor market conditions, credit spreads, and macroeconomic trends to advise clients on optimal timing and structuring.
  • Collaborate with syndicate, sales, and trading desks to ensure successful distribution of debt offerings.
  • Mentor junior bankers and analysts, reviewing financial models and transaction materials.
  • Ensure all transactions comply with internal risk policies and relevant regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in debt capital markets, leveraged finance, corporate banking, or credit-related investment banking roles
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and credit analysis skills
  • Deep understanding of debt instruments (term loans, revolvers, mezzanine debt, private credit)
  • Proven track record of executing debt transactions from origination through closing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to senior clients and committees
  • Strong knowledge of capital markets regulations and documentation (credit agreements, indentures.

Preferred:

  • MBA or CFA designation
  • Series 79 and 63 licenses (or equivalent, if applicable in jurisdiction)
  • Experience with leveraged buyouts, project finance, or asset-based lending
  • Existing network of institutional investor and sponsor relationships
