Job Title: HSE Officer

Location: Arepo, Ogun

Job Summary

• We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HSE Officer to join our team.
• The ideal candidate will assist the HSE Supervisor in implementing the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal safety policies within a cable manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the HSE Supervisor in assessing risks associated with tools, equipment, job sites, and work environments.
• Support the HSE Supervisor in planning and executing all resource requirements for safety operations.
• Develop and implement emergency preparedness procedures and serve as the first point of contact during emergency situations.
• Investigate all injuries, accidents, and near-misses, and recommend corrective actions.
• Render first aid to employees and visitors in case of injury or illness.
• Conduct safety-related audits and inspections to ensure compliance and identify potential hazards.
• Enforce adherence to HSE policies, procedures, and statutory regulations.
• Conduct HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and safety awareness training for employees and contractors.
• Support the review and implementation of HSE policies and documentation.
• Ensure proper waste disposal and environmental compliance within production areas.
• Maintain accurate HSE records and prepare periodic reports for management.
• Participate in fire drills and ensure readiness of firefighting and first-aid facilities.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to promote a strong safety culture across all departments.

Qualifications & Requirements

• B.Sc. / HND in Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related field.
• 0 - 2 years of experience in HSE functions, preferably within a cable manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Good understanding of HSE regulations, ISO 45001/14001 standards, and risk management practices.
• Basic first-aid knowledge and ability to respond to medical emergencies.
• Excellent communication, observation, and reporting skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Relevant HSE certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, ISPON, OSHA) are an added advantage.
