Job Summary
- We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accountant to oversee the company's financial records, statutory compliance, tax filings, and reporting.
- The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations, accounting standards, and regulatory compliance while demonstrating the ability to manage high transaction volumes in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Prepare and file statutory taxes, including VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), PAYE, and Companies Income Tax (CIT).
- Liaise with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Lagos Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), and other regulatory bodies on tax and compliance matters.
- Ensure timely filing of annual returns and maintain compliance with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) requirements.
- Prepare reconciliations for bank accounts, ledgers, and other financial records.
- Support internal and external audit processes by preparing accurate documentation in line with IFRS standards.
- Process financial transactions while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and support the implementation of accounting best practices.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets to analyze financial data and prepare reports.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with company financial policies and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 3–6 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
- Strong working knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, including VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), PAYE, and Companies Income Tax (CIT).
- Familiarity with FIRS filing procedures and experience liaising with tax authorities.
- Working knowledge of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) statutory compliance and annual returns.
- Basic understanding of audit processes and IFRS documentation standards.
- Comfortable representing the company before FIRS, LIRS, CAC, and other regulatory agencies when required.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage high transaction volumes.
- Quick learner with the ability to adapt to new accounting systems and technologies.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
